چکیده

This paper describes an integration framework that allows development of simulations where the cognitive reasoning and decision making is programmed and executed within an existing BDI (Belief, Desire, Intention) system, and the simulation is played out in an existing ABM (Agent Based Modelling) system. The framework has a generic layer which manages communication and synchronisation, a system layer which integrates specific BDI and ABM systems, and the application layer which contains the program code for a particular application. The code is available on GitHub: https://github.com/agentsoz/bdi-abm-integration

Towards a Formal Modeling of Affective Agents in a BDI Architecture

When designing agents to simulate human behavior, the incorporation of personality, emotions and mood into the agent reasoning process provides the agent with a closer to human behavior. We have designed an Open Affective Agent Architecture (O3A) based on widely accepted psychological theories. O3A offers a flexible way of integrating the affective characteristics of agents into their logic. We...

Modelling the Tactical Behaviour of the Australian Population in a Bushfire

In this paper we provide an agent-based model of the population behaviour during a bushfire in the state of Victoria in Australia, intended to serve as a basis for decision-support simulations for emergency managers. In order for the simulation results to be valid, our model therefore needs to be as realistic as possible, in particular regarding the agent architecture. After providing some cont...

Capability Relationships in BDI Agents

The belief-desire-intention (BDI) architecture has been proposed to support the development of rational agents, integrating theoretical foundations of BDI agents, their implementation, and the building of large-scale multi-agent applications. However, the BDI architecture, as initially proposed, does not provide adequate concepts to produce modular software components. The capability concept em...

A new BDI agent architecture based on the belief theory. Application to the modelling of cropping plan decision-making

Agent-based simulations are now widely used to study complex systems. However, the problem of the agent design is still an open issue, especially for social-ecological models, where some of the agents represent human beings. In fact, designing complex agents able to act in a believable way is a difficult task, in particular when their behaviour is led by many conflicting needs and desires. A wi...

Integrating Semantic Web and Software Agents: Exchanging RIF and BDI Rules

Software agents and rules are both used for creating flexibility. Exchanging rules between Semantic Web and agents can ensure consistency in rules and support easy updating and changing of rules. The Rule Interchange Format (RIF) is a new W3C recommendation Semantic Web standard for exchanging rules among disparate systems. Yet, the contribution of RIF in rules exchange between Semantic Web and...
